Witchclan - Misanthropist

Genre: Black Metal
Origin: United Kingdom

Some amazing black metal here from the UK in the form of Witchclan.  Anyone who has viewed this page previously will know of my fondness for Witchclan and their own brand of black metal.  Witchclan hailing from Suffolk are the product of mastermind Matt Bass who in the early 90's was one of the founding memebers of the band.  However in 1995 after releasing two demos the band split and the Witchclan name lay dormant seemingly never to return.  But in 2009 Matt decided to resurect the Witchclan name and pick up where he left off, but this time he would be working alone in order to control every aspect of the bands sound and songwriting.  In 2010 and early 2011 two further demos were released as this full length was being worked on,  but now after around 20 years this, Witchclans debut full length has seen the light of day.  and what do you suppose it sounds like??????  Well it sounds like you'd expect, it sounds like cold, dark, pitch black metal in the vein of Darkthrone, Immortal, Emperor etc.  But unlike many bands formed in the modern day, this doesn't sound like a mere retread of former glories.  This sounds like a classic second wave black metal album  which if released in 95 or 96 would be hailed as a classic release from an amazing british black metal band.  I personally hope this one doesn't fly under the radar and that it gets the recognition and plaudits it truly deserves, from black metal's past witchclan have came shrieking into its future with this their debut full length cementing it's place as being utterly essential black metal.  All hail Witchclan M/
